After a slow start this morning because of the wet conditions at the end of the driveway Jay and his crew were able make good progress on the paver surface later in the afternoon. The first photo below shows the driveway from a spot just above the curve in the front yard.
The second photo shows the driveway from a spot near the end at the street. Both photos show the driveway curving around the maple tree as it “meanders” up the hill. I think the pavers look absolutely fantastic!
We might well title this afternoon “a tale of two rocks”. First Jay installed the address rock in the front corner of the rain garden. He picked up this 2 ton boulder at Gertens this morning along with the smaller weathered limestone specimen in the next photo. The weathered limestone rock sits on a disappearing fountain base that conceals a pump beneath the ground and becomes a simple “bubbling rock” water feature. The plastic fountain base will be covered using small stones (like the one pictured) and mulch and finally surrounded with plants. Our goal is to allow the plantings to “hide” the bubbling rock in the garden at the end of the porch making it a feature that is heard before it is seen.
A video of the bubbling rock in all it’s glory…
