Carpentry…Day 3

Dan from Solid Construction continues to work on the front staircase as the the rest of his crew hangs doors and installs trim on the second floor. The first two photos show the front stairs with almost all the exposed treads and risers in place. The circuitous path of the first flight handrail is the consequence of strict compliance to the building codes (not necessarily style).

The next photo shows the railing assembly as it climbs the upper flight of stairs to the book nook and dies into the wall on the right. The handrail and newel posts will be stained & varnished while the balusters will be painted with white enamel.

The last two photos show some of the progress taking place upstairs. The first shows the hallway leading to the laundry room with bedroom and attic doors hung and trim installed. The two hall closets opposite the kids bathroom are shown in the last photo. Each closet has a pair of three panel bypass doors and are trimmed just like the rest of the doors and windows.
