Landscaping…Day 3 (Evening report)

The JLM guys spent the afternoon building the first section of modular block wall and “sculpting” the back yard with the skid steer loader. The panoramic photos below show the basement walk-out and the new dirt grades. In the first photo the West side of the patio is rough graded and ready for the boulder wall at the bottom and “out-croppings” in the hill. The top of the new wall is visible on the East side. The long dirt pile on the right in the photo will be be removed by the excavators tomorrow.

The second photo shows a better view of the new patio wall. The second wall will start a couple of feet behind the first and extend just beyond the stairwell wall at the back of the garage. The skid steer loader sits in the middle of the freshly graded slope behind the garage leading to the patio below. Andy and his crew have moved a lot of dirt and are pretty close to having the grades set.

The last photo shows the new wall from the patio level. The paver stones in the patio will almost cover the first course of block and a stone cap will be installed on top. The second wall will be about six feet tall and will die into the grade just behind the skid steer loader. I think all the elements of the landscaping plan will work really well together.
