All of the plantings going in around the “L” Shaped House are a part of the master landscaping plan Matt Wolfe (JLM’s Designer) put together a while back. As Jay and his crew make their way around the site placing plants they are constantly referring back to Matt’s plan in order to preserve his “vision” for the landscaping design. The photo, sketch, and plantings list below give a pretty good feel for this process.
In the photo above I have identified a couple of elements of the plan…that can then be found in the sketch below. To see a bigger version of Matt’s planting guide click here. There are a few areas where Jay and his crew have been forced to depart from the master plan because of last minute additions by the owners (guilty as charged…) or bigger than expected plantings (a good thing?). The planting guide and plant list should serve us well into the future as we work to maintain this beautiful space.
Matt’s listing of plants includes both the common and Latin names for all the plants installed. Matt takes this work very seriously and has created a carefully considered plan that includes plantings specifically chosen for reasons as diverse as attracting specific types of birds to more mundane considerations like sunlight and shade.
