Framing…Day 7

There was a lot of progress at The “L” Shaped House today. The Tappe crew finished roughing in the main stairway, got a good start on the stairway in the garage, and installed all of the plywood decking on the second floor.

If you go way back in the postings on the blog (here) you will see that we looked at three different stairway configurations as we worked with Mike Kloti on the design of the “L” Shaped house. I think that placement of the stairwell on the back wall is going to work  really good. I think the rise and run of the stair treads, the size of the landing, and the general “look and feel” of the stairs from the living area is just right.

The Tappe crew had just finished installing the decking and was busy laying out the floor plan as I arrived just after lunch. These guys a pros and its fun watching them work.

The Tappe guys carefully laying out the floor plan on the second floor decking.

The second floor decking and stairway over the main part of the house. It’s a long way down from up there and a little scary walking around with a few big open holes and no walls.
