Helen, Anna, and I met Dan Guion at the Mendota Mantels workshop early this afternoon to pick up the mantel for the “L” Shaped House. Dan showed us his beautiful work as Anna test fitted the returns on his workbench. We wrapped everything in blankets, popped the mantel into the back of the suburban, and headed off to the house. Once we arrived we set about test fitting the returns…
And the mantel…
Dan has done a fabulous job with the mantel. The dark stain and linseed oil finish on the recovered White Pine beam is beautiful. The mortise and tenon detail on the front face is perfect and the story that comes along with the project will (I’m sure) captivate our guests for years to come!
