Landscaping…Day 16 (follow up)

For the first time since the rains started on Tuesday I was able to make my way around to the front side of the garage to check out what Jay and the JLM landscape crew have planned. It rained all day Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday turning the soils back into that awful muddy mess we know so well. The beautiful weather today dried things up significantly and gives us hope that maybe we’ll actually have a  driveway someday. The photos below show some of the limited progress Jay and his crew made after removing the old driveway Tuesday. The first photo shows the front of the garage from what will become the back corner of the driveway.

The next photo shows the beginnings of the trench along the front edge of the garage floor where the PVC gutter drain will be installed. The drain will run the length of the garage and exit out the hill beyond the Norway maple beyond the garage. The last photo shows the third garage door with the dirt excavated away from the front of the 6” cement slab. We plan to pour a 4’ cement apron along the front the whole length of the garage.
